Post-Busy Season Success: A Review Process for Accountants and CPA Professionals

Congratulations, accountants and CPA professionals. You made it through another busy season. What is your busy season review process? Did it go as planned? Was it wildly successful?

Question: When was your busiest part of the season? Were you able to take your team on April 14th for lunch and then call it quits and everybody go home for the evening and actually get a good night’s sleep?

These things are all possible, but let’s start thinking and start reviewing how we can make busy season wildly successful next year. What do we have to do? And even more importantly, what do we have to do to learn from busy season and turn that into veins of gold?

You have something important in front of you. That’s a tax return. That’s a tool you can use to help your clients to come into awareness of what they can be doing next year to take advantage of tax laws of their business or their personal finances, and really use this to their advantage.

What’s your plan to have a post busy season review with your clients and use discovery to find out how you can improve the value of your client’s life and turn that into real returns? We call that mining your veins of gold. Your database is the first place you should be looking for new business post busy season.

What’s your plan? How do you do it? I’m going to give you a hint. It starts with one discovery conversation with one of your clients at a time and use effective controlled business conversation.
