Being excellent at what you sell is not the same as being excellent at running the business that sells it.
The Purpose-Built Playbook says many ideal clients have good industry-related skills but lack sound management systems. They may not have the tools to plan, forecast, make realistic budgets, measure key performance indicators, or run a controlled and profitable business. That gap is where good ideas turn into hard work with thin control.
Trade Knowledge Opens the Door
Industry skill matters. It is often why the owner had the confidence to take the Entrepreneurial Plunge. But trade skill does not automatically create financial controls, organizational structure, reporting systems, or throughput-process management.
Management Needs Its Own Tools
Planning, forecasting, realistic budgets, and KPIs are not corporate jargon when they are used to run the business by the numbers. They are practical tools for seeing where the business is going and whether it is under control.
The System Protects the Owner
Without management systems, the owner has to become the system. That makes the business dependent on memory, effort, and constant personal involvement. A controlled business creates a different option.
Respect the trade. Then build the management system it needs.
